Knight James Ewing Knight (August 9, 1790 – April 1, 1869) was a U.S. Representative from Virginia. Born in Augusta, Virginia, Knight attended the common schools of Augusta. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in Richmond, Virginia, in 1812. He was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1816 to 1820. Knight was elected as a Democrat to the Thirteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Lewis White, Jr. and served from February 12, 1823, to March 3, 1824. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1824. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the Virginia Convention to Nominate John Quincy Adams for President in 1824. Knight was appointed judge of the Superior Court of Richmond, Virginia, in 1828 and served until his resignation in 1846. He was commissioned as colonel of the 1st Regiment, Virginia State Militia, in 1845. He retired in 1846 and died in Richmond, Virginia, April 1, 1869. He was interred in Hollywood Cemetery.
